FEMA Administrator Brock Long — Safe for Now

A resolution appears to have been reached.

For the last eight days, Brock Long was what former Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka used to call "being on the bubble." His future much in doubt due to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Inspector General (IG) investigation of his use of FEMA vehicles and staff when he traveled home. This erupted in The Washington Post and on Meet the Press last Sunday.

During the week I penned this opinion piece, Editorial: Don’t Fire FEMA Administrator, Brock Long that appeared in Emergency Management magazine. Then, late Friday afternoon there was this media piece, FEMA administrator will reimburse government, won’t face charges from internal probe.

Hopefully, with all this behind him, Long can put his full attention to the Hurricane Florence recovery effort.

Personally, in Washington, D.C., every day seems like another chapter in a soap opera that is playing out in real time. Yikes!!
