Amazon Outage Doesn't Shake Cloud Confidence
State CIOs are committed to cloud computing with the right precautions.
Problems in April with Amazon’s cloud computing platform brought down a number of websites that relied on service. Ultimately though, the incident is unlikely to slow government’s adoption of the new computing technique. State CIOs attending the NASCIO Midyear Conference in May said they’re either using or investigating cloud-based services. But the Amazon outage underscores the need for due diligence and back-up planning.
