The city did not announce or explain the departure. However a new mayor, Republican Lenny Curry, took office on July 1. Curry defeated incumbent Alvin Brown in a May election. Brown, a Democrat, was the city's first African American mayor.
Mohan resigned in a brief email to her superior, chief administrator Sam Mousa, in which she wrote, “It has been a pleasure working with you over the last month. I wish you and the City of Jacksonville all the best. One City, One Jacksonville!”
Mousa responded with, “Acknowledged and accepted. Thank you for your service to the City of Jax. Good luck in your future endeavors.”
As CIO, Mohan oversaw IT operations for the city of 840,000. In 2013, the city was reported to have saved $200,000 annually through the administration of a gigabit fiber network. In 2014, Jacksonville launched Jaxscore 1.0, a website designed to show the public what the government was doing.
