Need a mobile spark for your Fourth of July holiday? Maybe you want to impress your friends with your knowledge of the United States Constitution. Government Technology reviewed four mobile apps that should make your Fourth a little more digitally patriotic.
Fireworks Arcade
Available for iPhone and iPad, the free app
Fireworks Arcadesimulates fireworks displays through a series of five beginner-level games. One of them, called Spark Samurai, is essentially a clone of the popular app Fruit Ninja — the game that lets wannabe swordsmen slice through floating pieces of fruit for points. Spark Samurai replaces fruit with fireworks. Points are earned by slicing and dicing the fireworks, but watch out for bombs — they’re game over.
The U.S. Constitution – Flash Card Trivia
When was the Constitution ratified? How many Amendments have there been to the Constitution? With The
U.S. Constitution – Flash Card Trivia, a free app available on iPhone and iPad, tests trivia enthusiasts’ knowledge of the historical document. The app presents 150 questions as digital flashcards. Its flashcard-style setup is great for Fourth of July parties or for anyone curious to see how rusty their knowledge of the Constitution really is.
GlowPuzzle Independence Day
Love puzzles and America’s birthday? The free
GlowPuzzle Independence Day app available on the Android gives users the ability to connect the dots in Fourth of July-themed puzzles. The real challenge is connecting them without reusing an already-completed path, according to Google Play. So sit back and tease your brain in Uncle Sam’s honor.
United States Quizzle
How much do you really know about the 50 states? In the free
United States Quizzle app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, users are asked multiple-choice questions— ranging from presidential history to state flowers. For every question answered correctly, the user is awarded 100 points. After each set of 10 questions, you can go back to review what you answered right and wrong. The app’s interface is intuitive. Difficulty ranges from simple to fairly challenging. And although festive for Independence Day, United States Quizzle would be fun to play year-round.
