NIC Names Seasoned Technologist Brian Anderson as New CTO

NIC Inc., one of the biggest providers of digital government services in the United States, has hired seasoned tech strategist Brian Anderson to be its new chief technology officer.

According to a news release on Monday, Anderson will be a member of NIC’s senior leadership team and report to CEO Harry Herington. The release credited Anderson with having successfully led a suite of enterprise software, having considerable experience with mergers and acquisitions and holding several patents.

“Brian brings the perfect combination of technology expertise and strategic vision that will continue our long history of strong technology leadership at NIC,” Herington said in a statement. “He has considerable knowledge implementing solutions that utilize cloud innovation, machine learning, artificial intelligence and more. I am excited to welcome him as a vital voice within our company’s leadership team.”

Anderson’s LinkedIn profile shows more than two decades of experience as an engineer, consultant or executive in the software industry, starting at companies such as Aleon Consulting, Cerner Corp., Perceptive Software and Tradebot Systems. In the past five years, he has been the chief technology officer at Lexmark International, where he developed product strategy and led the company’s research and development initiatives; a board member at TradeTec; and the CEO and co-founder of the startup Applogie, a platform for helping organizations manage their SaaS subscriptions.

He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas and multiple recognitions from Techweek Kansas City, a conference for entrepreneurs.
