Salesforce, the popular customer relationship management platform, has released a library of AI tools built for specific industries — including government, as well as public-sector-adjacent fields.

The effort, called Industries AI, involves AI use case libraries embedded within their respective industry clouds. There are 15 such clouds, including public sector, energy and utilities, health care, education and communications.

“As an agency, we see the value in being a leader in adopting new technologies like AI, in partnership with trusted organizations like Salesforce, to improve passenger experiences by making access to information faster, easier, and more intuitive,” said Kristin Ruiz, deputy CIO for the U.S. Transportation Security Administration, in a press release. “We see the potential of AI to help enrich security efficiency and facilitate better passenger experiences by assisting skilled officers in enhancing security standards. And because our ultimate goal is to protect our nation’s transportation system from emerging threats, we are investing heavily in testing to ensure that AI can be used safely, ethically, and responsibly to promote adoption and reduce the risk of AI-based threats.”

Salesforce plans to release more tools as time goes on, but it kicked off the AI push with three use cases in its public-sector cloud:
  • Benefit Application Review: Provides context to benefits applications, including an applicant’s history with the program, as well as assisting in identifying changes between application versions
  • Digital Assessment Generation: Simplifies conversion of paper-based assessments (such as a benefits questionnaire), into a digital format
  • Inspection Preparation: Shows an inspector a license holder’s history of violations, as well as compiling a list of expired, expiring and non-compliant licenses
The company’s website shows that each of those tools will be available in October.

Industries AI also includes tools to — among other things — help utilities explain changes in customers’ bills, manage college recruitment activities and summarize nonprofit program participants’ case histories.
