Best of California Awards 2011

Many of this year’s winning projects feature the automation of systems to ease budget cuts, accelerate processes and provide the public with a better experience. These award winners demonstrate the determination of California agencies to continue to create efficiencies and be innovative with technology despite limited financial resources.

California technology leaders and projects honored by Center for Digital Government

The Best of California Awards program was established to honor IT professionals and projects in California state and local government and education organizations for their outstanding contributions, dedication and hard work.

The annual awards recognize excellence in contributions and distinction in the information technology arena. Eighteen of California’s top technology projects and leaders from state and local governments were commended by the Center for Digital Government, a division of e.Republic, to be the recipients of its esteemed 2011 Best of California awards.

“Reducing costs while improving service to constituents is not only a hallmark of good government, but is the very essence of the Best of California awards,” said Center Executive Vice President Cathilea Robinett. “Many of this year’s winning projects feature the automation of systems to ease budget cuts, accelerate processes and provide the public with a better experience. These award winners demonstrate the determination of California agencies to continue to create efficiencies and be innovative with technology despite limited financial resources. Congratulations to the winners!”

The winners are selected by a panel of state and local government chief information officers/judges based on a set of criteria, including collaboration between agencies, innovative use of technology, performance, economic benefits and improvement of services to citizens and government employees. The winners will be honored at the 2011 Best of California awards ceremony held in Sacramento on May 9.
