“Technology is at the core of my work to transform Los Angeles into the model modern city, and I know Ted Ross has the vision and experience necessary to help me get there,” Garcetti said.
The official appointment is pending city council approval. Ross is recognized for leading tech projects that include development of the city’s open data portal.
In May, the Mayor’s office also took on Director of Innovation Delivery Amanda Daflos, who joined the city as part of a three-year Bloomberg grant. Los Angeles’ tech leadership was recognized as part of Government Technology's Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers of 2015, and the city of Los Angeles also placed first in the 2014 Digital Cities Survey, run by the Center for Digital Government, sister organization to Government Technology.
