Wrightsville Beach, NC To Go Wireless for Public Workers

Network will support a Wi-Fi mesh for public workers and provide casual Internet access to serve the tourist industry.

Internet Business Consulting, Inc. (IBC), a wholly owned subsidiary of IVI Communications, Inc., has been awarded a $90,000 contract by Surfmasters, Inc. to design and install a high speed fixed broadband wireless network in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.

The network being designed by IBC will support a Wi-Fi mesh network for public workers and provide casual Internet access to serve the tourist industry. The network will be comprised of Motorola Canopy access points (APs) and backhaul radios. Motorola Hotzone gateways will be utilized to support the mesh network.

"The WiMAX revolution is gaining momentum and the switch to high speed broadband wireless Internet access is happening throughout the country at a rapid pace," stated Nyhl Henson, president and CEO.

"We knew what the city wanted and believed that WiMAX was the answer. We needed a company that could turn the concept into reality. I met IBC at a tradeshow and instantly recognized that they had the credentials to get our network up and running. I look forward to keeping IBC as a primary partner as this project expands," stated Rick Tedder, president of Surfmasters, Inc.
