A new partnership between a Phoenix-based technology services company and Thesis Elements, which makes student information systems, will apply artificial intelligence to help small to mid-sized colleges analyze student progress and communicate with them through the same platform.

According to a news release this week, the integration will make the messaging tool from Thesis Elements part of Canyon GBS's "Advising App," a cloud-based system for planning and creating content for student outreach.

The Advising App features three modules: prospective student management, retention management and AI assistance. A recruitment tool can help users automate tasks like sending emails or texts and adding or removing staff from prospective student care teams. The same automation can be used for communications with students in the retention management module. The app also offers an AI chatbot and a library of communication prompts.

Thesis Elements also offers its tools in modules. Like most student information systems, their SIS houses quantitative data like student demographics, attendance and transcripts. The admissions module centralizes student information in a profile from the moment they apply, so students can track their application progress and administrators can access information from a student’s profile should they attend. The billing and financial aid modules help track student expenses and dispense aid funds, and other modules help administrators understand the wealth of data and make changes.

Thanks to the partnership, Thesis will supplement Canyon GBS’s student records with reports on student metrics and integration with other campus systems. Users will have access to these features in early 2025, according to the news release.
