Mass. Mandates Cybersecurity Training for Schools, Municipalities

School in Chicopee, Longmeadow, Springfield and Westfield are among 23 districts and other public agencies scheduled for cybersecurity awareness training through the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security.

(TNS) — Close to two dozen municipalities and public school districts in western Massachusetts will be receiving cybersecurity awareness training, through the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security, a recent statement from the Healey-Driscoll administration said.

The training will teach people how to better detect and avoid cyber threats, to a total of 227 municipalities and 78,000 employees across the state.

The program will begin with an assessment of cyber strength, before delving into more specific assignments, such as simulated phishing email campaigns and other training. At the end of the program, participants will complete a final cyber strength assessment to measure their progress, the statement said.

Agawam, Amherst, Belchertown, Chicopee and Chicopee Public Schools, Deerfield, Easthampton, Franklin Regional Retirement System, Greater Commonwealth Virtual School, Greenfield, Greenfield Retirement System, Hampden County Regional Board of Retirement, Huntington, Longmeadow and Longmeadow Public Schools, Martin Luther King Jr. Charter School of Excellence, Montague Retirement Board, Rowley, Southwick, Springfield Public Schools, Westfield and Westfield Schools, all will receive cybersecurity training.
