An “unauthorized actor” accessed the district’s computer systems on Oct. 19, according to a news release from the district. An investigation revealed the following personal information was in the hacked systems:
- Social Security numbers
- Individual taxpayer identification numbers
- Driver’s license numbers, state identification numbers
- Financial account information
- Payment card information
- Insurance information
- Usernames and passwords
The district began notifying impacted individuals on Thursday, Nov. 14. The amount of information leaked varied per person.
Those individuals were given guidance on best practices to protect their information.
The district doesn’t know if the accessed information will be misused in any way.
“OPS is committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information in its possession and has taken many precautions to safeguard it. OPS continually evaluates and modifies its practices to enhance the security and privacy of the personal information it maintains,” the release said.
