(TNS) — All schools in Vermilion Parish were hit with a possible cyber attack on Monday.

Abbeville High School, in a Facebook post, wrote that all schools in Vermilion Parish School System's network were placed offline as they investigated a "potential compromise of our system."

Schools responded by changing their phone numbers and only accepting emergency calls. AHS said their Internet phone lines were restored around noon. LeBlanc Elementary in Abbeville wrote their Internet phones were restored around 1:30 p.m.

Superintendent Tommy Byler said that there is little to report as of now. The school system is working with a team out of Baton Rouge to look into the possible compromise. Byler told KATC the incident was a "systemwide situation."

"We feel like we caught the attack early but we want to be proactive in moving forward and prevent any further compromising of our system," AHS wrote in a Facebook post.
