TikTok has recently found itself in the crosshairs of the federal government, but now more than half of states have banned the app on state devices as well.

Is this heightened scrutiny specific to TikTok’s ties to the Chinese government, or a sign of things to come as international applications gain momentum in the U.S.?

Should state and local agencies be thinking more broadly about guidance for social media, data use and privacy in general?
