State of Gov Tech 2024: Startup Showcase Winners — ICYMI

Fordje, KeyCaliber, Madison AI, Tappy Guide and Voting Buddy, gov tech startups singled out for distinction by judges at the 2024 State of Gov Tech event, discuss their innovative solutions and their companies’ visions for the future of government.

As has been the case for the past few years, at the recent State of Gov Tech 2024 event in Kansas City, 23 startups were given the opportunity to pitch their companies and solutions to a panel of private- and public-sector judges.

These companies offered solutions dealing with a wide range of issues faced by the public sector. From that larger group, the following companies were singled out as the most innovative and promising gov tech startups:
  • Fordje: “Cities and construction developers don’t speak the same language, but they have similar problems they are trying to solve,” said Gillian Wildfire, co-founder and CEO. “Fordje is working at the intersection of cities and construction developers to clarify city codes and zoning requirements so everyone can build faster.”
  • KeyCaliber: Cyber resilience, exposure management, vulnerability prioritization and asset management are based on what matters most. KeyCaliber’s machine learning models leverage existing cybersecurity logs and telemetry to generate a “criticality” score for each discovered cyber asset, providing automated asset categorization.
  • Madison AI: Madison AI’s artificial intelligence accurately references and researches the entire database of a municipality’s codes, master documents and previous board actions for the past five years, providing quick access for elected officials and staff to aid with research and drafting staff reports.
  • Tappy Guide: “Tappy Guide provides a comprehensive platform that empowers people with disabilities, seniors and veterans to navigate urban spaces safely and independently, reducing barriers in both indoor and outdoor settings,” said founder and CEO John Petrous. “By integrating Tappy Guide, government technologies can ensure compliance with accessibility mandates, streamline mobility support and improve the quality of life for a significant portion of the population.”
  • Voting Buddy: Using a proprietary algorithm, Voting Buddy provides users with a personal profile of their political views and then scientifically connects them with like-minded politicians to make sure that the candidates they select to represent them in government accurately reflect their own values.
On this episode of GovTech’s “In Case You Missed It,” Dustin Haisler welcomes representatives from all five of these companies to give our audience an overview of their offerings.
