(TNS) — Verizon is outfitting every student and teacher at five
Richmond County schools with the use of Chromebooks and 30 GB 4G LTE data plans for up to four years.

said in a news release that
A.R. Johnson Magnet School,
Hephzibah Middle School,
Langford Middle School,
Spirit Creek Middle School and
Tutt Middle School will be joining Verizon Innovative Learning, the company's education initiative to address barriers to digital inclusion. This amounts to nearly 3,000 students and 175 teachers receiving technology.
In addition to free technology and access, schools will receive teacher training and support as well as full-time coaches to train teachers in integrating technology into lessons.
Superintendent
Kenneth Bradshaw
said in the release that this initiative has been shown to drive academic improvement and boost confidence in technology use and resources for students and teachers.
"The access to technology and staff to support its integration in these schools is game-changing and advances our districtwide technology access goal," he said.
The five schools are among 148 joining Verizon Innovative Learning, bringing the program to more than 400 middle and high schools nationwide and to the
Augusta area for the first time.
