Utah Puts Driving Records Online

'We process approximately 70,000 requests each year for citizens to access their driving records'

Thanks to a new service available through Utah's official Web site citizens can now access their own state driving record and, with a few clicks of the mouse, view and print their driving record. The whole process takes less than five minutes to complete.

"We process approximately 70,000 requests each year for citizens to access their driving records," said Judy Hamaker Mann, Director of the Driver License Division at the Utah Department of Public Safety. "We're proud to be able to provide this new and convenient online option for citizens."

In accordance with the Driver Privacy Protection Act (DPPA), the online system -- launched this week -- employs high-level authentication technology to ensure privacy and security. Here's what drivers need to use the new online system:
  • Internet access
  • A printer
  • To log in, users need last name, date of birth, last four digits of their Social Security Number or Tax Identification Number, and Utah driver's license number
  • Valid MasterCard or Visa credit card
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
Driver records accessed online contain the following information:
  • Driver's name and date of birth
  • License number, type, and status
  • Original license issue and expiration dates
  • Commercial status and license endorsements
  • Moving citations (citations issued for three years for non-alcohol and 10 years for alcohol-related violations)
  • Arrests (all DUI arrests received in the past 10 years)
  • Department actions
