After nearly a year of hints and rumors, Tesla has finally confirmed that Apple Watch integration with its vehicles is coming. As part of the 2024 Tesla Holiday Update, the electric car maker will release an Apple Watch version of its app.

Tesla and Apple Watch owners will be able to use their timepiece to view the car’s battery level, open the trunk and remotely operate the climate controls. The biggest update, though, will be the ability to use the Apple Watch as a phone key. This will allow users to lock, unlock and start their vehicles via their watches.

The Holiday update includes a number of other new features as well, such as the ability to watch and save clips recorded in Dashcam and Sentry Mode. Drivers will also be able to check the precipitation forecast for their destination and designate specific battery charging levels for when they arrive. And because Elon Musk is in charge, no one should be surprised that there is also a silly feature coming. Users will be able to activate a new Emissions feature that plays a fart sound when someone sits on a seat, effectively turning it into an automated whoopee cushion.
