YouTuber Michael Pick wasn’t exaggerating here when he said his homemade Nintendo Switch is larger than the official Nintendo model — in fact, he understated it. The standard Nintendo Switch is 9.4 inches wide, 4 inches high and weighs about 0.66 pounds. Pick’s homemade version, on the other hand, is almost six feet wide and weighs 65 pounds.
The device consists of a 4k TV screen, a regular-sized Nintendo Switch, some Joy-Con joysticks and a bunch of 3D-printed components all contained within a wooden frame. The TV screen is surrounded by 3D-printed parts that look exactly like the buttons and Joy-Con controllers on a real Switch. These parts in turn control servo motors on the inside, which translate what happens to the external buttons to the real Switch within.
According to The Verge, Pick intends to donate the device to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
