How many cellphones are in the world’s largest private collection?

Answer: 3,615.

A pile of old cellphones, some of them damaged.
Everyone most likely has a few old cellphones lying around, but no one has as many as Wences Palau Fernandez (that we know of). The Barcelona resident recently took the Guinness Book of Records’ title for the largest known collection of mobile phones in the world.

It started with a Nokia 3210 that he got for Christmas in 1999, and in 2008 he began to collect in earnest. Nokia makes up the majority of the 3,615 handsets in his collection, but other brands like Apple, Samsung, LG and BlackBerry are also represented. He even created a dedicated website to share images and videos of his collection.

The Guinness record passed to Fernandez from Andrei Bilbie Argentis in Romania, whose collection of 3,456 phones earned him the title last year.
