What mapping service lets users name the Gulf of Mexico whatever they want?

Answer: MapQuest.

A generic map.

Yes, MapQuest is still around, for those who remember its brief heyday. And the online wayfinding service has taken its own entertaining approach to the name of a certain body of water.

Weeks after President Donald Trump announced he was changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, mapping services like Google Maps and Apple Maps followed suit to varying degrees. MapQuest, however, has decided to let the people pick the gulf’s name. So it created a special section of its website called Gulf of Something.

On this page, you can name said gulf whatever you want, and MapQuest will make it so on the accompanying map. There’s also a “surprise me” option where you can let MapQuest give it a random name for you.
