Anyone who has had bed bugs knows that they are no joke and should be taken very seriously and immediately eliminated, with fire if possible. Amazon recently demonstrated that it takes no prisoners when it comes to these creatures.
An undisclosed number of employees at the e-commerce giant’s largest Kentucky air hub were given a paid day off on Monday when they discovered an insect in a delivery van that they feared was a bed bug. A TikTok from Unionize Amazon Northern Kentucky KCVG shows one of the workers describing how the employees “rallied together inside of the HR office and refused to leave until they sent us home with pay” after the suspicious bug was discovered. And since Monday was a holiday, they got a holiday pay rate at time and a half.
An Amazon spokesperson later confirmed that the pest in question was fortunately not a bed bug: “In this instance, an employee told us about a potential issue and we immediately took the van out of service and had it treated. Experts have since confirmed the insect in question was not a bed bug.” Still, better safe than sorry.
