iPhone users and ChatGPT lovers rejoice — you can now download the official app for the beloved chatbot on iOS devices. ChatGPT creator OpenAI announced the release of the app, the first official native mobile app for the bot, in the U.S. on Thursday.
Just like with the web version of ChatGPT, you’ll need to log into an OpenAI account in order to use it in the app. But this means that you can sync your chat history between devices, in case you need to switch from your phone to your computer during a conversation. You’ll also need to be connected to the Internet while using the app, since the AI processing happens on OpenAI’s servers.
“We’re eager to see how you use the app. As we gather user feedback, we’re committed to continuous feature and safety improvements for ChatGPT,” said OpenAI in announcing the app. “The release of the ChatGPT app for iOS is a step towards our goal of converting state-of-the-art research into practical tools, while continually increasing their accessibility.”
