It was only a matter of time before something like this happened. Artificial intelligence has been making headlines for a while, but now it wants to make policy.

Constituents in the UK will get the chance to vote for AI Steve for a seat in the British Parliament. A digital avatar of entrepreneur Steve Endacott, AI Steve will be on the ballot as an independent. Voters can chat with him via the generative AI portal on his website. AI Steve was designed by Neural Voice, a company that Endacott chairs.

Endacott will reportedly serve as AI Steve’s physical presence at campaign events like rallies. If AI Steve is elected, he said that Endacott “will ‘physically’ attend Parliament to vote on policies as guided by AI.” Constituents will be able to converse with AI Steve and share their viewpoints or preferences on policies, and Endacott “says he is committed to voting in line with the constituent preferences as expressed through AI Steve.”
