Packers fans, be on alert — if you purchased anything from the team’s official online store recently, your data may have been compromised. The NFL team discovered Oct. 23 that hackers had compromised the checkout process on their online retail store to steal credit card data.
The data was stolen between September and early October of last year. The hackers installed a card skimmer script that stole credit card data and other personal information entered during checkout. The affected data included credit card numbers, expiration dates, card type and verification numbers. They also stole names, addresses and email addresses.
Those who didn’t pay using their credit card directly are in luck — anyone who used an alternative method such as PayPal, Amazon Pay, a Pro Shop account or gift card was not affected. For those whose data was compromised, the Packers are offering three years of credit monitoring and identity theft restoration services.
