This month, Google released its data on the top searches of 2023, and included in the list are the songs most often hummed to the web browser’s Hum to Search feature. Launched in 2020, the tool lets you hum that earworm that you don’t know the name of and it’ll tell you. This year, people hummed Imagine Dragons’ “Bones” most often. “Kesariya” by Arijit Singh took second place, with “アイドル” by Yoasobi coming in third. “Maan Meri Jaan” by King and “Believer” by Imagine Dragons rounded out the top five, respectively.

Also in the realm of music, the most searched song was “アイドル” or “Idol” by Yoasobi, the theme music from anime series Oshi no Ko. This was followed by Jason Aldean’s “Try That In A Small Town” and “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” by Shakira and Bizarrap. And unsurprisingly, over in the movie world “Barbie” took the top spot for film searches this year, followed by the equally unsurprising “Oppenheimer.”

And in overall news searches, “War in Israel and Gaza” took the top spot, followed by “Titanic submarine.” “Turkey earthquake” came in third, with hurricanes Hilary and Idalia rounding out the top five.
