If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to work remotely from a cozy cabin in Norway, here’s your chance. Norwegian browser operator Opera is offering 10 lucky people the chance to go to Norway to work from home for free for one week.
The goal is for participants to try out Opera’s new “hygge desks” inspired by the Scandinavian concept of hygge, which is the feeling of total warmth, coziness and togetherness experienced in cold places. Those selected will get to spend one week using these hygge desks in one of five secluded cabins overlooking Norway’s scenic landscape. The locations offered include Ålesund and Lysefjord and their accompanying fjords; Norefjell, a ski resort around 90 minutes outside of Oslo; the Lofoten Islands; and Bodø, both of which sit within the Arctic Circle, optimal for viewing the aurora borealis.
Those interested must fill out an application that includes a story about why they would benefit from such an experience. Selected participants will receive round-trip flights to Norway for two people for the six-night stay, as well as on-the-ground transportation to get to their cabin. The deadline to apply is Feb. 28, and the trips will be between March 18 and April 6.
