Officials have still not disclosed any details related to it and are continuing to investigate, Mike Negray, the court’s deputy administrator, said in a Monday afternoon statement.
Municipal Court spokesman Ed Ferenc said some jail inmates appeared Monday morning for bonds in the court, which is located on the third floor of the Cuyahoga County Justice Center.
The court’s online civil and criminal dockets failed repeatedly Monday.
Sunday evening, Negray said in a previous statement that the court would be closed Monday following a “cyber incident.”
“We take cyber threats extremely seriously and are working expeditiously to rectify the situation as soon as possible,” Negray said.
As of Monday afternoon, officials were still determining exactly what happened and what systems were affected.
When a reporter for cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer went to the Justice Center on Monday, the administrative windows for the court were closed, and the lights were off in the housing court area nearby.
The incident marks the second time in less than a year in which a Cleveland government office was hit by a cyber incident.
In June, a ransomware attack closed Cleveland City Hallfor more than a week. Officials have never explained what caused the incident or whether valuable information was seized.
It is unclear whether the city and the court are linked through similar computer networks.
