City spokeswoman Monica McDaniel sent out a news release Wednesday afternoon to update local residents on the latest news regarding the Nov. 20 cyber attack.
"We understand there are still many questions regarding the cyber incident the City of Odessa is currently facing. Due to the sensitive nature of the situation, we can only share limited information. Please know that external agencies are actively involved in the investigation," the news release stated.
McDaniel said they'll provide more details as soon as they are able.
She also released the following instructions:
Municipal Court: You can email [email protected] for assistance with dockets, citations, warrants or magistrations. Additionally, you can stop by Municipal Court at 201 N. Grant (next to Odessa Police).
How to currently make a payment:
If you plan to visit Odessa City Hall at 411 W. 8th Street to pay a bill, here's what you'll need:
— Your current bill or the exact amount you owe.
— A money order or check made payable to the City of Odessa.
— The Billing and Collection department cannot take a credit or debit card at the moment.
— We cannot accept cash at this time.
— Please note that due to a network outage, we are unable to access account information. It's essential to bring your bill with you or know the exact details of your account.
During this time:
— No late fees will be applied.
— No services will be disconnected.
— Our phone lines are also down, but we are here to assist you in person.
— You can mail in your payments. All automatic payments will go through once the system is up. Currently, if you get an email that one has been accepted, know it is on hold. For new service requests, we can help you at City Hall. Simply fill out the required paperwork during your visit. Bottom line, everyone will keep and get services if needed.
