Former OPM CIO Donna Seymour announced her retirement just days before a federal hearing regarding the OPM breach hearing in February.
De Vries was appointed as deputy CIO at the DoD in 2009, where he assisted in the adoption of a joint information enterprise, helped launch an electronic records system for Veterans Affairs, and expanded cloud adoption and mobile capabilities.
“I’m elated that David has decided to join our team here at OPM," said OPM Acting Director Beth Cobert. “David has decades worth of the technical and management experience necessary to hit the ground running as we continue our technology transformation efforts, and work with our partners at DoD to stand up the National Background Investigations Bureau (NBIB).”
The DoD will design and operate the NBIB's computer systems, the department announced in January 2016.
