This follows the October 2023 departure of former CTO Dmitry Kagansky. Kagansky was appointed to the role in September 2022, filling it after longtime CTO Steve Nichols stepped down for a position in the private sector.
“Subi comes to GTA with proven expertise in executing large-scale modernization efforts in state government,” said GTA Executive Director and State CIO Shawnzia Thomas in the announcement.
The CTO position is not Muniasamy’s first experience with Georgia state government, as he currently serves as CIO at the Georgia Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire. In this role, he has established a road map to implement the Georgia Insurance Management System (GIMS) in the Salesforce platform, among other things.
Before coming to work for Georgia state government, Muniasamy helped advance tech at the state level in Maryland, first as CTO of the Maryland Department of Human Services, and more recently serving as the executive director of the Maryland Total Human Services Integrated Network (MD THINK) initiative. He also served as CIO of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange.
