Indiana Acting CIO Jeff Allen
Indiana has named an interim replacement for the top position at the Indiana Office of Technology following the departure of former CIO Tracy Barnes last week.

Chief Operating Officer Jeff Allen is now also the acting CIO and agency head according to the agency’s website.

Allen has had a long career at the Indiana Office of Technology, starting with the agency in 2006 as a desktop technician and continuing up the ranks in several roles before being selected as chief operating officer in 2022.

Indiana is going through a major tech leadership change up, with the departures of Barnes and former Chief Data Officer and Executive Director Joshua Martin of Indiana’s Management Performance Hub coming shortly before the inauguration of a new governor.

The state's 52nd governor, Mike Braun, took office Jan. 13.
