Loo was appointed to the acting CIO role three years ago after former county CIO Bill Kehoe left that position and was named Washington state CIO. The Board of Supervisors officially approved Loo’s appointment June 26.
“Mr. Loo is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of public sector IT experience,” a letter to the Board of Supervisors recommending his permanent appointment reads. “Since 2012, Mr. Loo has served as chief deputy director, CIO for Los Angeles County, and for the last three years he served as acting CIO where he provides strategy, leadership and guidance on enterprise IT initiatives, IT governance, and the delivery of information technology capabilities to support the County mission.”
Before serving as the chief deputy director/CIO, Loo managed the implementation of a countywide shared portal infrastructure program as a senior IT consultant/CIO for six years. That work included budget and IT project and program oversight for the Sheriff’s Department and the Information Systems Advisory Body.
Loo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles.
