South Dakota Secretary of State Announces Information Access System

Bringing the Secretary of State's office to the public

In South Dakota, Secretary of State Chris Nelson recently announced that a new Information Access System Web site is now available to the public. The Web site allows access to information in the Secretary of State's office, such as campaign finance reports filed by candidates, data on political parties and political action committees as well as information on lobbyists and notary publics.

This system will allow the public to view money contributed to candidates and political committees, find out who lobbyists work for, and find notary publics in cities and counties. Additional information will be available on the Web site in the future.

"This Web site brings our office to you," Nelson said. "I want the public to have easy access to the information kept in the Secretary of State's office, and this is one step in that direction. I look forward to adding new information to this Web site."
