GSA Contract Awarded For MySQL

MySQL AB, developer of MySQL, an open source database, was awarded a five-year GSA contract

MySQL AB, developer of MySQL, an open source database, was awarded a five-year GSA contract, GS-35F-0131R Schedule 70, providing government the ability to conveniently purchase and deploy MySQL database solutions.

Government organizations that currently use MySQL include Los Alamos National Labs, U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Geological Survey, NASA and the Department of Defense.

MySQL's inclusion on the GSA schedule is enabled by an agreement with Carahsoft Technology, a government IT solutions provider based in Reston, Virginia that represents a select group of software and hardware manufacturers.

"The government's interest in innovative open source technology such as MySQL is growing at a significant pace," said Craig P. Abod, president of Carahsoft. "MySQL Network allows our government customers to affordably achieve the highest levels of data reliability, security and uptime -- all backed with the full accountability and support of an established, ten-year-old software vendor. We look forward to a long and successful partnership delivering MySQL's enterprise-class features to federal government agencies."

Under the terms of this agreement, the GSA has awarded MySQL's products and services onto the Carahsoft Technology Corp GSA schedule effective December 20, 2005 through November 19, 2009. MySQL products and services are officially available on the Carahsoft GSA schedule immediately.
