Samsung also claims that the new chips are only larger in storage capacity — their physical size is the same as the 256 GB chips. Because this chip is an internal storage chip, rather than external like a microSD chip, it is capable of reading new data at 860 MB per second and writing it at 255 MB per second. According to Samsung, these speeds are eight times faster than an average microSD. And you don’t have to keep track of an additional piece of equipment.
Samsung has not yet announced which phones will get the high-storage chip, only that it is intended for next-generation phones. This may likely mean future Samsung phones, but could also include smartphones from other manufacturers.
